Ernest Khalimov (born 1 March 1969) popularly known as "GigaChad" is an Azerbaijani internet personality, comedian, model, bodybuilder, fitness trainer, and entrepreneur from Moscow.

Life and career[edit]

Personal life[edit]

It was rumored on 26 April 2021 that Khalimov had died in a car crash.[1][2] This rumor spread quickly, but was soon debunked.[1]

Gigachad meme[edit]

The gigachad meme emerged in 2017 in sites such as Discord, 4chan, and Reddit, thanks to an anonymous Reddit user posting a link of an Instagram account named "sleekntears" (which features images solely of Khalimov and Sudmalis) in a bodybuilding subreddit.[3] He was referred to as a model of "idealized hypermasculinity", an "archetype" of masculinity,[2] and was soon nicknamed "Gigachad" as his popularity grew once his meme had become viral.[3]

His appearance has cast doubt on his existence, with some claiming that he was a digital creation of digital artist Krista Sudmalis. However, he has been proven to exist with his Instagram posts. The gigachad emoji[4] is one of the most popular and most used on Discord.
