Erol User
Erol User is a well-known Turkish businessman who is CEO of USER Danismanlik, one of the largest investment banking companies in Turkey.
Early life
Born on March 23, 1960, User grew up in Istanbul with his family.[1]
Education
User attended public elementary school in Istanbul and was admitted to the elite Sankt Georg Austrian College in 1976 for high school. He graduated from Sankt Georg in 1979 and, after studying for the university entrance exam, was admitted to the selective Istanbul University Faculty of Economics in September 1979. User completed a double major in Finance and Management. He then went on to complete the first International Leadership Academy in Japan in 1988. In 2010, User successfully completed an MSBS in Renewable Energy at Vienna Technical University.[2] The topic of his master's thesis was: "Meeting 2020 Energy Goals in Turkey: An Analysis of the Contribution of Renewable Energy Sources (Wind, Solar and Geothermal) to Turkey's Electricity Market".[2]
Employment and USER Danismanlik
After serving the World Bank and Turkish Government, User successfully started his own investment banking firm. The business, USER Danismanlik, was created in 1984 and has developed into one of the leading investment banking firms in Turkey. Additionally, in 1996 User was a founding member of Citibank Credit Cards Turkey.
According to User, "what matters most to our clients is the outcome. Our goal is to deliver results. The mission of USER Danismanlik involves committing the staff's skills and knowledge to achieve the clients' financial objectives. USER Danismanlik aims to provide the highest possible level of service and deliver superior products." [3]
The services the company provides are generally mergers and acquisitions. The company identifies, structures, and executes a wide range of cross-border transactions. Its business network, coupled with the unique understanding of the Turkish economy, industry, and culture, helps USER Danismanlik consistently deliver good service to clients.

- Buy-side and sell-side advisory on mergers and acquisitions and disposals
- Advisory on privatisation projects
- Advisory on debt private placements for growth or acquisition financing
- Advisory on international corporate bond offerings

User is also exceedingly proud of his company's commitment to the UN Global Compact, which is "a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption."[5]
Philanthropy
User is the founder, president, and/or board member of many organizations and associations such as JCI (Jaycees) Turkey, Worldwatch Institute Europe, TUGIAD, TESEV, TEMA, and Kidsparliament. Kidsparliament is an online community dedicated to helping children create dialogue with one another.[6]
User supports philanthropic initiatives in the areas of local and global environmental issues, children's rights, ethical economy, and many others. His hope is that with the advances of the 21st century, these critical areas will be furthered and improved for all people.[7]
Awards
- User received the Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award in 1988, the most important in his career because it allowed him to help bring the Turkish and Greek Prime Ministers together for the first time in history.[8] User believes that this nomination was what most influenced him on his road to philanthropy and service to the global community.[1]
