Dr. Esi Ansah is a Ghanaian educator, coach, and entrepreneur.[2] She is one of the founders and the CEO of Axis Human Capital Resource firm in Ghana which was formed in 2008.[2] She is an adjunct Professor of leadership at Ashesi University College.[2] Dr Ansah is also a fellow of the Aspen Institute's Africa Leadership Initiative and of Vital Voices 2015/2016.[2] Dr Ansah is a founder of the Association of Ghana’s elders (AGE) and engages in civil society programmes.[2] She is the chairperson of the Advisory Board for the association for Research on civil society in Africa (AROSCA) and serves on the Advisory Boards of various organisations.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

She was born to a family of four children as the only girl.[3] Dr Ansah attended Wesley Girls' Senior High School in Ghana from 1988 to 1995.[3] Then in 1999 she received three bachelor's degrees in Psychology, French, and International Affairs, from the Florida State University.[1] She graduated with a cum laude (honours) in three years. In 2004 she completed her Master of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago prior to completion of her Master of science degree in public Service management from DePaul University in Chicago in 2002.[1] Dr Ansah holds a PHD in Public Administration from Rutgers University in New Jersey (2008).[1]

Work[edit]

In 2008 Dr Ansah co-founded Axis Human capital with some of her friends and currently she is the CEO.[2] She is an adjunct Professor at Ashesi University, teaching leadership IV, Human resource management and, involved in coaching students in their academic work and personal life.[1] Dr Ansah works with the Longevity project and women’s trust.[4] She worked as a research assistant, junior consultant School of Public affairs and administration and Adjunct professor from 2004 to 2007 at the Rutgers University in New Jersey.[1] Prior to working as an adjunct Professor at Harold Washington Community College in Chicago in 2004.[1] She served as a graduate assistant at De Paul University, Chicago from 2002 to 2004.[1] In 2001 she worked as an Adult literacy instructor for the Blue Gargoyle Adult Learning Program in Chicago.[1] Dr Ansah worked as a Technology Accounting Specialist GATX Technology Services in 2009 and mentors young people in career planning and development by organising workshops to mentor young people.[4]

Achievements[edit]

She is one of the few women to have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro which is the largest mountain in Africa in the border between Kenya and Tanzania.[5] The site is 5895 metres tourist site in 2015.[5] Dr Ansah has been recognised at various institutions she is involved in with numerous awards, Ashesi University College - Outstanding Faculty Award in 2008 and 2010.[1] The Dissertation Excellence Fellowship Recipient, Rutgers University – Newark, NJ in 2008.[1] Then, in 2010 she won at the Ashesi Ubora Awards - Most Inspiring Faculty Award.[1] The Network Journal (TNJ) 40 Under 40 Achievers’ Award, in the same year.[1] The awards also, include Founders’ Forum Fellow - ASPA Conference, Milwaukee, in 2005; David Gould Scholar - ASPA Conference, Portland, in 2004 and Florida-West Africa Linkage Program Award in 1999.[1]
