With her extensive experience and diverse skill set, Esjay Jones has become a respected figure in the music industry, known for her ability to bring out the best in artists and help them achieve their creative visions[2].
Following the breakup of her band, Jones made the bold decision to start her music career anew in the United States. Since then, she has established herself as a sought-after collaborator with some of the biggest names in the industry. Jones has worked with top producers, songwriters, and artists, including Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, Grey Daze, which was Chester Bennington's early band, Brian 'Head' Welch of Korn, Jasen Rauch of Breaking Benjamin, and Krewella, among many others. Her impressive collaborations have earned her a reputation as a versatile and talented artist who can bring her unique sound and style to a wide range of musical projects[3].
Early Life[edit]
Jones' journey in music began at a young age, with a fateful encounter that changed the course of her life. While taking ballet classes, Jones' teacher noticed her natural talent and suggested to her parents that she consider pursuing a career in dance. However, Jones' true passion was for music, and she was grateful when her parents supported her decision to follow that path instead.
Esjay Jones comes from a musical family and has been surrounded by music for as long as she can remember. Her grandmother was an opera singer, and they would spend hours singing together around the piano. Esjay's love for music only grew from there, and she began playing in bands at the young age of 12.
Her passion for music led her to an internship at Northwind Recording, where she gained valuable experience and learned the ropes of the music industry. This experience eventually led her to a successful music career in South Africa as an artist, where she made a name for herself with her powerful vocals and captivating performances.
As a teenager, Esjay was the lead singer, guitarist, and front person of her band, and they toured extensively. This experience gave her a solid foundation in the business of live music and helped her understand the intricacies of the industry. It was during this time that she started to develop an interest in production, as she wanted to create the same kind of powerful and emotional experiences in the studio as she did on stage.
Over the years, Esjay has honed her skills as a producer and has become a sought-after artist in the music industry. Her experience as a live performer has given her a unique perspective and approach to production, and she has been able to help artists bring their vision to life. With her impressive track record and diverse skill set, Esjay Jones continues to make waves in the music industry, inspiring and empowering others to pursue their dreams and create music that moves people.
Career[edit]
Esjay's success in the music industry spans almost two decades. In the first part of her career, she was the lead vocalist for the Durban-based band, Stealing Love Jones, where she cemented herself as one of South Africa's top rock vocalists. During her time with the band, they achieved mainstream success with four number one singles and shared the stage with major international acts like Fall Out Boy, One Republic, Violent Femmes, Seether, Jimmy Eat World, and Groove Armada.
In 2013, Esjay Jones made her mark in the U.S. music industry when she co-wrote the hit single "I Choose U" with Justin Tranter for the artist Timeflies on Def Jam Records. This was her first major cut in the U.S. and it propelled her career forward. Since then, Esjay has worked with some of the biggest names in music. In addition to her success in producing and songwriting, Esjay has also made a name for herself in the sync and licensing world, creating original compositions for brands such as Fabletics and for commercials such as the Hellman's Mayonnaise Super Bowl ad.
Esjay's talent as a producer and songwriter has not gone unnoticed. She was personally chosen by the Chester Bennington estate to produce the posthumous record from the late Linkin Park frontman, released on Loma Vista in 2022. Esjay is also a member of the collaborative trap-metal project "We Are PIGS," where she writes, produces, engineers, sings, and mixes.
