''Ishmael Zolfi'' (1946-2020) was a prominent Iranian Businessman and Philanthropist and was a major shareholder of Afshar Industries [1]. He passed away from COVID-19 at Baharloo Hospital [2] on July 24th 2020 [3]
Early Life[edit]
Ishmael Zolfi was born in 1946 in Tekab, Iran. His mother was Jeyran Siami and father was Abdiel Zolfi.
Career[edit]
In the 1980's and 1990's, Ishmael Zolfi established a Carpet Exporting Company which exported Persian Carpets to several countries including Switzerland, Germany from Iran.[4]. His company “became one the most successful rug business in the world at the time, with sales in the hundreds of millions of dollars per year”. A self made multi-millionaire, Zolfi was known for his Entrepreneurial Accomplishments in Iran and Europe [5]. After retiring in the 2010's, Mr Zolfi bought several properties and built an apartment high rise in Tehran. He also was the shareholder of Afshar Industries in South Tehran. [6]
Death[edit]
In July 2020, Ishmael Zolfi was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was hospitalised in Baharloo Hospital on the 10th of July, 14 days later, Mr. Zolfi passed away on the 24th of July and was buried in Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
