Esoteric, Gnostic and Johannine Christianity
Esoteric, Gnostic and Johannine Christianity comprises the smallest branch of the Independent Sacramental Movement (ISM), with individuals and communities that practice esoteric, Gnostic or Johannine Christianity. In many cases, esoteric, Gnostic and Johannine clergy possess lines of apostolic succession and share valid Catholic sacraments. Most adherents choose esoteric, Gnostic and Johannine expressions of Christianity as an alternative way to live and express their faith. They are described by some as "the fringe of a fringe movement."
Largely due to its "working clergy" and the lack of resources of its communities, esoteric, Gnostic and Johannine communities are constantly in flux. Most esoteric, Gnostic and Johannine clergy are quite independent from one another and from other members of the Independent Sacramental Movement, often finding more fellowship and kinship in Druidry, Wicca, and fraternal orders (e.g., Masonic lodges).
