Essa was born in Dubai, but as a Pakistani by nationality. He began playing tape-ball cricket in the streets, a common way of playing cricket amongst South Asians. He developed his skill in batting and bowling through constant practice, and got familiarized with pressure as he played, too. In 2021, Essa submitted an application to join an official Under-14 cricket tournament being held in Dubai, by the Emirates-Pakistan Sports Association. He was accepted and amalgamated into Al Nahda Rockets, a team in the tournament which was based on the residential area; Al Nahda. The tournament had a knockout system, and the Rockets faced Jumeirah Eagles in their first match. Essa starred in the smooth win against the Eagles, and his fame under the teenage cricket banner began since then. He went on to lead the Rockets into a flawless victory, as he was made Captain by the second match.

Essa Imran's batting was widely recognized as the best when it came to chases, and he made a name for himself to the point where the Association exclusively invited him for upcoming tournaments and increase their viewings because of how many local fans Essa had gathered.

Tournaments[edit]

As of August, 2022, Essa has participated in 17 tournaments. 11 of which were knockout tournaments and the other being leagues, Essa has won all 17 tournaments with his teams. He usually plays in the Al-Nahda Rockets, if they are a part of the tournament. His highest batting score was 102 in the September League against the Deira C.T, he made the second highest batting score in the history of the U15 tournaments held by the EPS Association. Although he is Pakistani, many Emirati officials plan to add Essa to the Emirates National Cricket Team once he is old enough. When asked who he prefers to play for, Essa made it clear that he desires to play for Pakistan on an international level.

All of the tournaments that he has participated in were held and organized by the EPS Association, this is because most other cricket tournaments either require financial payment for an individual to join, or their selection-system does not feature individual and separate player recruitment, and rather has different academy teams join the tournament.
