Estefanía Natalia Soto Torres (born April 27th, 1992)[1] is a Puerto Rican TV host, model, and actress. Prior to being crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 [2], Soto worked for several international organizations such as the Embassy of France, Washington, D.C., the European Patent Office (The Hague), and Eurocities (Brussels).[3]

Modeling & pageantry[edit]
Estefanía started her modeling career when she was 9 years old.[3] In 2019 she competed in the national Miss Universe Puerto Rico competition, where she placed first runner-up, as Miss San Sebastián.[4] A year later, she was appointed the new Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020.[4] She represented Puerto Rico in the 69th Miss Universe 2020 competition and placed Top 10.[5] [6]
Television[edit]
Following her performance at Miss Universe, she became a producer and journalist for WAPA-TV's investigative journalism show Cuarto Poder.[7] [8] In October 2021 she made her TV hosting debut for WAPA-TV’s Miss Universe Puerto Rico final competition.[9]
Acting[edit]
Soto started taking acting classes in late 2021 and was casted for her first acting role in an American series in February 2022. In March 2022, she was accepted at the Baron Brown Acting Studio, a drama school in Santa Monica, California, where she is currently training in acting.[10]
Business[edit]
Estefanía is currently the Ambassador to the Women Economic Forum (Caribbean)[11] [12] [13] [14] and Volvo Cars (Puerto Rico)[15]. On March 28th, 2022, she was confirmed as the new Development Supervisor for the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization.[16] [17] [18]
Early life[edit]
Soto was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico [1] to her mother Luz Torres [19] [20], an organic chemistry professor at the University of Puerto Rico, and Ariel Soto [21], a sales manager. Her brother Christan Soto was a professional basketball player [22] and currently works as an architect.[23][24] Her academic and professional career took her to live in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Mexico, The United States, and Puerto Rico.
Education[edit]
Before settling for the communications and entertainment industry, Estefanía graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages.[1] She speaks Spanish, English, French, and Dutch.[25] In 2017, she obtained an Erasmus Mundus interdisciplinary Master’s degree in gender studies and cultural anthropology from the universities of KU Leuven (Belgium) and Charles de Gaulle University – Lille III (France).[26] [27] During her second year as a graduate student she moved to Mexico City where she developed her fieldwork around the trajectory of indigenous Triqui migrants from the Mexican state of Oaxaca.[1] Her master's thesis is titled Made in La Ciudadela: Community-building and placemaking practices among Indigenous Triqui Migrants in a Handcrafts Market in Mexico City.
