Ethics policy
An ethics policy for a company is a policy that companies create for themselves on how to operate ethically.[1] It defines the company's ethical standards, and can include topics such as employee safety, interacting with customers, following laws,[2] and avoiding questionable business practices.[3] An ethics policy also explains what type of employee speech and behavior are accepted.[4] Some also include information about company culture/mission statement,[5][6] and processes for internal audits.[7] It can protect brand reputation if followed correctly. When writing an ethics policy, it is recommended to keep it simple, with easy-to-understand language.[8] An ethics policy is based on common sense, but it is not a replacement for common sense.[9]
Ethics Codes and DEI
Ethics codes often state the company's view on DEI (diversity, equity, inclusivity).[10][11] At the moment, some companies are changing their ethics policies to reduce the focus on DEI.[12][13] Some companies have decided to completely eliminate DEI from their policies.[14]
