Eugene Riconneaus is an artist and shoe designer born in 1989 near Château de Chambord. Followed by his godfather Raymond Massaro, shoe artisan from Chanel, he founded his eponymous ladies’ shoe brand Eugene Riconneaus. At the age of 26, he was nominated as artistic director for Repetto, the French ballet shoe house.[1] Out of his passion for skateboarding, he created a unisex footwear label UNDUN recounting the history of street culture. In 2013, Eugene received the Prix Talent from ELLE Magazine.[2]

Early Life

Eugene was born around a shoe factory and began working with an experienced boot maker when he was 12 years old. Rocked by skateboard and underground culture, he launched Eugene Riconneaus after visiting myriads of shoemakers and urban poet artists and after frequenting his godfather Raymond Massaro at the age of 19. [3] Being the youngest and most talented shoe designer in the industry then, his very first client was Joyce Hong Kong. Step by step, he has conquered most prestigious concept stores including, Supreme NYC, Colette, Lane Crawford, 10 Corso Como, Luisa Via Roma...

Fashion collaborations

  • Colette

In 2010, Eugene introduced made-to-measure Chelsea boots and sneakers exclusively in Colette.[4] In 2014, Eugene collaborated with Colette and designed a special edition of high heels to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the birth of Batman.[5]

  • Larry Clark

In 2015, Eugene debuted his art exhibition with American independent filmmaker Larry Clark in Paris and introduced a limited edition of skate shoes that were later selling in Supreme NYC.[6]

  • Queen of Thailand

In May 2017, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand ordered two pairs of custom-made high heels from Eugene using traditional Thai silk and aiming to help local women for their extraordinary work.[7]

  • Mazda

In 2019, artist Eugene Riconneaus collaborated with FAW-MAZDA to design a unique art car and related fashion items for the launch of Atenza in Shanghai, China.[8]

  • Dr Martens

In 2018, commissioned by Dr. Martens and Première Vision, Eugene designed 15 shoe creations based on the heritage of Dr. Martens and a related art exhibition.[9]
