Eugene Y. Chan (or Eugene Chan) is a professor of marketing at Toronto Metropolitan University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He is noted for his research on the influence of political ideology in consumer behavior. He is also an expert in health marketing. He has published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology and International Journal of Research in Marketing, among other top journals. He has previously taught at Purdue University, Monash University, and University of Technology Sydney.
Research
He is noted for his research on how consumers make healthy decisions. He has published research on how food packaging can be useful in the fight against obesity [1], and how merely exposure to concepts related to coffee can create a "coffee buzz" even without actual coffee consumption [2]. He has also published research on how sexual identity influences financial risk-taking [3] and has written an influential piece about how moral beliefs predict stance towards wearing face-masks during the COVID-19 pandemic [4].
