Eunyoung Choi

Eunyoung Choi is a South Korean animator, director and producer of Japanese animation. She is known for her works with Japanese animator Masaaki Yuasa, which whom she eventually founded Science SARU studio. Ater Yuasa stepped down as president and representative director of Science SARU, she became the main director and president.[1]

Biography[edit]

She majored in sculpture at university in South Corea and moved to London where she developed an interest in animation, finally ended up at Madhouse in Japan.

In 2006 she draws the 6th episode "Dry Birthday" of "Kemonozume", directed by Masaaki Yuasa and her unique style quickly raises interest. She quickly becomes a close colleague to Yuasa. From 2008, she gets involed in different projects related to or directed by Masaaki Yuasa and assumes different roles, handling the script, animation direction, storyboard, and key animation for several anime. In 2014, she takes part in Ping Pong the Animation as assistant director and draws the ending animation.

She formed the studio Science Saru with Yuasa in 2013. She’s been the studio’s most important creator besides Yuasa.
