European Conference Physics of Magnetism
The European Conference Physics of Magnetism (PM) is an international scientific conference devoted to the broadly understood field of magnetism and magnetic materials. It is held triennially in Poznań, Poland and organized jointly by the Institute of Molecular Physics of the Polish Academy of Science (PAS) and the Faculty of Physics at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU).[1]
History[edit]
The PM series of conferences started in 1975 as a national event called Physics of Magnetism conference.[2] In 1993 it reached an international range which was marked by the change of the name into the European Conference Physics of Magnetism.[2] Since then, its scientific scope and international range grew up gradually. The last edition in 2017 gathered 382 participants from 31 countries.[3][4] The conference was held at the Faculty of Physics, AMU (26-30.06.2017) and featured plenary invited lectures, parallel oral sessions in 6 specialized fields and poster sessions. The conference always offers a number of social events and in 2017 was additionally accompanied by two satellite scientific events: 2nd Poznań School of Physics of NanoMagnetism (Poznamag 2017) held in Poznań from 21 to 30 June 2017, and the workshop MagIC2017 – Magnetism, Interactions and Complexity held in Trzebaw near Poznań from 2 to 7 July 2017. The event planned for 2020 was moved to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic and will be organized on-line[1] Proceedings of the PM conference have been published in Physica Status Solidi.[5][6][7][8] and in Acta Physica Polonica A.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16] In 2021 the proceedings will be published in the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials.[17]
Scope[edit]
The scope of the conference encompasses the following categories:[18]
- Strongly Correlated Electrons and High Temperature Superconductivity
- Quantum and Classical Spin Systems
- Magnetic Structure and Dynamics
- Magnonics and Spin Wave Dynamics
- Spin Electronics and Magneto-Transport
- Topological Matter and Molecular Magnets
- Nanostructures, Surfaces and Interfaces
- Soft and Hard Magnetic Materials
- Applications
- Other Topics
Organization[edit]
The PM conference is managed by chairmen from the Institute of Molecular Physics, PAS and from the Faculty of Physics, AMU. They are supported by two international committees: the advisory and program committees, and by two local ones: the organizing and publishing committees.[3][19]
