Evelyn Mount
Evelyn Mount is a philanthropist who ran the Community Outreach center from her home in northeast Reno for more than 40 years.[1] Mount helped feed up to 20,000 people a year during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holidays through Community Outreach, which served as a food bank[2]. She was featured on The Rosie O'Donnell Show because of her volunteer work[1], and the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center in Reno was named after her in 2009[3]. In 2005, she won the Reno Gazette-Journal's Citizen of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award for her work[4]. She eventually retired and closed down Community Outreach in 2018 after running it for 42 years[1]
She was born in Arkansas and grew up in Louisiana[1] before she moved to Reno in the 1970s.[5]. She was married to Leon, and together they had six children[6]
