Everest Okpara is a Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist known for his work in the medical diagnostics and healthcare sector in Nigeria. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Services Ltd and the founder of the Everight Healthcare Foundation.[1]
Early life and education
Everest Okpara was born in Isiekenesi, a rural community in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. He grew up in a small household as one of three children. During his childhood, he helped his mother run a small catering business, which involved sourcing firewood, cooking, and delivering food to market customers.[citation needed]
He began his education at Community Primary School, Dimagu, and proceeded to National Secondary School Ntueke, both located in his hometown. Okpara bagged a Bachelors degree in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from Lagos State University. He pursued further studies in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the United States.[2]
In addition, he completed a program in Healthcare Management at the Lagos Business School and obtained an MBA and a PhD from Charisma University, U.S.[citation needed]
Career
Okpara has over 20 years of experience in business, primarily in healthcare and technology. He founded Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Services Ltd in 2005, with operational centers in Owerri, Lagos, and Abuja.[1] The company is noted for providing advanced diagnostic services in Nigeria.[3][4]
In 2019, he became substantive president the Owerri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OCCIMA).[5]
Okpara established the Everight Healthcare Foundation in 2017.[1] The foundation conducts free medical testing, community health outreach, and public health education in Nigeria.[4]
