Express FM (Portsmouth)
Express FM (Portsmouth) Ltd is a community radio station based in Portsmouth, UK. It launched on 20th March 2006 as one of the first community radio licenses in the UK[1]. It broadcasts on 93.7 FM, DAB, and online to Portsmouth and the surrounding area with local information and a variety of popular music. As a community radio station, Express FM is fuelled by a team of volunteers with only a few members of staff

Express FM (Portsmouth) Ltd was awarded a community radio license from Ofcom in March 2006 and launched on air on Monday 20th March 2006 with Cheryl Buggy presenting the breakfast show. Express FM gained rights to broadcast Portsmouth Football Club games in 2010 after The Quay license was sold to Celador Radio Broadcasting, since 2018 Express have hosted 'Pompey Live' sharing commentary with BBC Radio Solent.
In 2015 Express FM was one of the initial stations to launch the local small scale trial DAB multiplex.
Since launch the slogan has changed a few times. 'Real Portsmouth', 'Closer to You', 'Passionately Portsmouth' and now 'Local Radio for Portsmouth'[2].
Shows[edit]
The breakfast show has been presented by then Station Director Cheryl Buggy, Adrian Knight, Darren Gamblen, Phil Russell, and most recently Mason Jordan[3] since August 2015, with local news, travel and guests every weekday morning. Daytime programming consists of a mix of popular music with a playlist similar to AC radio stations. In the evenings and weekends, many are specialist music programmes including local, country and rock music shows.
Though most shows are music based, Express FM has talk shows too with weekly news based programme 'Express This Week', 'The Football Hour' twice weekly reacting and looking ahead at Pompey games, 'In Conversation' a show dedicated to successful woman, and the 'Coronavirus Special' which posed local listeners questions to experts.
