Fàtima Bosch i Tubert

Fàtima Bosch i Tubert (Figueras, Gerona, 1957)[1] is a Spanish doctor of pharmacy.

She has been a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Barcelona since 1998, where she directs the Center for Animal Biotechnology and Gene Therapy (CBATEG). She has published over 100 scholarly articles, she is a principal investigator on numerous research projects, and in 1992 she co-founded the European Society of Gene Therapy.

She is also the Vice President of the EASD (European Association for the Study of Diabetes) and associate editor of the journal Human Gene Therapy, specializing in the field of gene therapy. She is also a member of the American Diabetes Association, the American Gene Therapy Society, the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Spanish Society for Gene Therapy, among others.

It is worth highlighting her contributions to research in the field of gene transfer, specifically in the study of the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus and gene therapy for this disease.

  • 1998: Francisco Grande Covián Award for her scientific career and research in nutrition, from the Spanish Society of Applied Basic Nutrition
  • 2002: Narciso Monturiol Medal of the Government of Cataluña for scientific and technological merit
  • 2005: Received the Cross of Saint George[3]
  • 2006: Alberto Sols Award for "Senior Basic Research of the Spanish Diabetes Society"
  • 2012: ICREA Academia Award[4]
