F-WWEY is an ATR-72 that was built by the Franco-Italian aircraft manufacturer, Avions de transport régional/Aerei da Trasporto Regionale (ATR), as the prototype of the ATR-72 and was the 98th airliner that was built by ATR at the same time that the ATR-42 was being construction.

History[edit]

Construction and first flight[edit]

F-WWEY was constructed in 1988 by Avions de transport régional/Aerei da Trasporto Regionale (ATR) as the first ATR-72 and 98th aircraft made by ATR. The aircraft had took its maiden flight on October 27th, 1988, following the success of the prototype and on September 25th, 1989, the ATR 72 received airworthiness certification from the French Directorate General for Civil Aviation.[1][2]

Retirement and preservation[edit]

The airliner was withdrawn from use on October 1st, 2018 and was donated by ATR to Aeroscopia Museum based in Blagnac, Occitania, France.[3]
