F.A.R.T. The Movie is a 1991 American low budget independent comedy film co-written, produced, and directed by Ray Etheridge.[1]

Plot[edit]

Russell (Joel Weiss) is obsessed with farting, and loves to fart any time he can. His girlfriend, Heather (Shannandoah Sorin) despises farts and becomes angry with Russell because all he does is watch television and fart. She tells him that the only time she can feel relaxed is when Russell is out of the house, as she is away from his gas. She thinks that if the television turns into fart jokes, which he also loves, then Russell won't even leave the house. Then one night, the television does become all about farts. This puts Heather to the ultimate test to see if she can get past his problem and love him. In the end, she has become so fed up with farting that she has a nightmare about farting. She wakes up and Russell farts. Heather realizes that there is no point in hating it anymore and decides to love him. The film concludes with both of them farting gleefully.

Reception[edit]

DVD Verdict found the film to be without merit, looking more like a home video than an actual movie. They panned the film as a purported comedy consisting of 90 minutes of stale fart jokes, that was not funny. They also panned the cinematography for appearing to be a poor VHS rip, and for very poor sound quality.[1]

Movies Made Me spoke at length about the film having very few truly funny moments and how its content was specifically aimed at those viewers who like fart jokes.[2]

Production[edit]

The project had a 30-day shooting schedule and a $43,000.00 budget. When seeking crew for the film, publications such as Daily Variety refused to run the ad copy until the word "fart" was removed from the text and replaced with "wind-breaker". Many of those who agreed to work on the project would do so only their names were changed for the onscreen credits. The project was shot on locations in Los Angeles, California.[3]
