FICTION SYXX (started March 15, 2016,[4] in Long Beach, Mississippi, United States) is an American rock band, best known for their balance between melodic, progressive, and hard rock style.

Biography[edit]

FICTION SYXX, is the brain child of songwriter/vocalist/guitarist, Mark Allen Lanoue [5]. Mark started writing the first track that would ultimately lay the ground work for the band Fiction Syxx. That first song called “Welcome to my Nightmare” [6] stared this new musical journey. Mark started talking with friend and multi-talented musician/songwriter/producer, JK Northrup who Mark started working with years earlier on an All Star project called Liberty N Justice [7] [8] and who was a former member of bands such as King Kobra III [9], and XYZ (American band) [10] about starting putting together the core members of what would become FICTION SYXX.

Mark, who had been a member of Message with Dean Fasano (RIP) which was a later version of the band that was founded by Richie Sambora [11] [12] started by talking to his old Society Child bandmate from 1991, drummer, Rory Faciane. Rory is a live and studio drummer that attended the Musicians Institute (Rory Faciane in 1989 and Mark Lanoue attended GIT in 1988) [13] and now resided in Nashville TN. Rory was excited to come on board with Mark and JK as the drummer. Then Mark began talks with bass rock legend, Tony “The Fretless Monster” Franklin [14] (THE FIRM [15], Blue Murder (band) [16] ). After Tony heard the first track, Welcome to my Nightmare, he offered to play bass on the debut, which become TALL DARK SECRETS. Finally, keyboardist extraordinaire, Eric Ragno (Graham Bonnet [17], Joe Lynn Turner

[18], The Babys [19]) was added to the lineup.

Now the band was complete and ready to deliver the debut album “TALL DARK SECRETS”[20]

FICTION SYXX mixes progressive hard rock with a nuance of melodic rock. The first release from this project was a way to bring a talented core of seasoned musicians together and to bring several guest artists and what came out of the effort is a solid 11 songs of progressive rock.

The name FICTION SYXX was created nearly 10 years ago. It is derived from the many mystical and mythical meanings behind the number 6 and sequences of that number such as “666” and “6666”. Since Mark was born on 6-6-66, the mystique about the number six became intriguing to him. In the 1980s, it also gained quite the bit of attention when being ID’d at convenience stores and bars.

SIGNING WITH MELODIC ROCK RECORDS 2016[edit]

MelodicRock Records signed the new hard rock band FICTION SYXX. The debut album ‘Tall Dark Secrets’ was released in August 2017 worldwide. The release had a number of well known guest artists such as, Jimi Bell [21], Bill Leverty [22], Carl Sentance (Nazareth (band)) who was in a band with Mark Lanoue from 1992-1995 called Persian Risk [23] , Karl Cochran, Lee Small, Steve Brown, Christian Wentz, David Cagle, and more.

THE LINE UP CHANGE 2018[edit]

The line-up had one change - Larry Hart (KING KOBRA, Montrose [26]) on bass guitar takes over for Tony “The Fretless Monster” Franklin. This release is focused more on the core than their debut release ‘Tall Dark Secrets’. There are no guest artists on this one and JK Northrup & Mark Lanoue share the lead guitar duties. Prepare for a mix of melody, harmony, soaring slide, and at times SHRED!
