FOSSASIA is a non-profit organization supporting the developers, start-ups, contributors, and makers of open technologies in Asia established in 2009. The purpose of FOSSASIA is to develop and apply open source technologies to adapt to social changes and focus on Asian users. FOSSASIA is linked with various projects that range from free and open source software, to design, graphics and hardware[1][2][3][4].

Founders of FOSSASIA[edit]

FOSSASIA was founded in 2009 by Hong Phuc Dang and Mario Behling[5][6][7][8].

Hong Phuc Dang[edit]

Hong Phuc Dang studied at the University of Wales, Singapore Campus, majoring in marketing and advertising. She has worked at GNOME.Asia, Chau Hopital and GIZ. Currently working at Hotel Xoai, HP Dang Consulting and FOSSASIA. She is also the director of activities of FOSSASIA[9].

Mario Behling[edit]

Mario Behling is from Berlin, Germany, and has majored in information services at the Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). He has worked for GNOME.Asia, Paiwastoon Networking Services Ltd. and FOSS Bridge. Currently working at MeshCon, FOSSASIA, and MBM International. He is also the organizer of MeshCon[10].

FOSSASIA Summit[edit]

FOSSASIA Summit is organized by FOSSASIA, a nonprofit organization that focuses on Asia and brings people together around open technology both in-person and online[11]. Till date, the summit has been organized in various countries: Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore[12][13][14][15][16][17].

FOSSASIA Programming Activity[edit]

FOSSASIA organized some programming activities and participated in Google Summer of Code(starting in 2011) and Google Code-In(beginning in 2014)[18][19].
