FS Investment Corporation (FSIC) is a publicly traded business development company focused on customized credit solutions to private middle market U.S. companies, headquartered in Philadelphia, PA with offices in New York, NY, Orlando, FL and Washington, DC.[3]
History[edit]
FS Investment Corporation began as Franklin Square Capital Partners in 2007[4] founded by Michael Forman and David J. Adelman[5][6] The first closed-end fund, FS Investment Corp, opened to clients in January of 2009, at which point the fund was raising approximately $150 million USD per month.[7] In December 2018 a partnership between FSIC and KKR Credit Advisors announced the merger of FSIC and Corporate Capital Trust, Inc to create the second-largest publicly traded business development company in the world, and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “FSK”.[8] While managing over $24 billion USD across 12 different funds, in late 2018, the FSIC acknowledged many performance problems to investors, and the eroding valuation of its flagship fund.[9]
