Early Life[edit]

Fabrice Lecomte, born December 2nd, 1959 in Milan, Italy is a french music composer. Son of Yves Lecomte, writer and poet, and Adriana Moratti, Lecomte grew up in Milan, before moving to New York at age 18.

Well-versed in Classical Music and Jazz[1], he started performing as a pianist at the age of 16 with his jazz trio at the renowned Capolinea Jazz Club in Milan – where Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Gerry Mulligan and Art Blakey had had legendary performances. Following his move to the United States, he graduated in composition from the Mannes College of Music, where he also studied Film Music.

Career[edit]

Published early at age 23, after a successful performance of his orchestral music at Carnegie Recital Hall, the performance of his "Those Hidden Thoughts" by the American Symphony Orchestra. at Alice Tully Hall the following year received praise by the New York Times[2] and distinguished Keith Jarrett

During the following years several classical music commissions in Europe succeeded, as well as film scores, music for the theater and commercial music (as seen on the first nationwide CNBC commercial). His orchestral score for the movie "Dead Heat" was praised by Ennio Morricone and Oscar winning directors such as Giuliano Montaldo and Robert Wise.

His Sonata for Flute and Cello sparked interest by the most important contemporary music ensembles like the Russian Studio for New Music Ensemble in St. Petersburg, Russia and was included in the archive of the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, Germany.

He had been regularly invited by the famed "Accademia di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale" in Saluzzo, Italy, to conduct an annual Master Class on various techniques for composing film music.

He recently composed the score[3][4][5][6] for the American drama film Sylvie's Love[7], starring Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha [8] – which had its world premier at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020.[9] [10] It's official worldwide release by Amazon Prime was on December 23rd, 2020.[11] The movie's end-title song "B.-Loved" (French Version), by Lecomte and Cécile McLorin Salvant was released on music platforms on December 18th, 2020.[12]

His music is published by the Willis Music Corporation[13] and is a member of ASCAP[14] both as a Composer and a Publisher.

Fabrice Lecomte resides in New York City, with his wife and two children.
