The Faculty of Clinical Informatics is a professional membership body which has been established to support clinical informaticians working in healthcare and social care across the UK.[1] [2] Current membership is a total of 151 Founding Fellows[3] and Fellows[4] (FFCI). Further membership categories, including 'member' and 'associate', will be available towards the end of 2018.[5]
History
The Faculty was established in 2015, under the guidance of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners, on behalf of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.[6] [7] Resources to support the Faculty's formation were provided by the NHS Paperless 2020 Building a Digital Ready Workforce programme.[8] [9]
Governance
The Chair is Dr John Williams FFCI FRCGP. It is governed by an Executive Board and Council.
During the founding phase, a Shadow Board, chaired by Professor Maureen Baker CBE, was put in place in 2017.[10] This was superseded by a Council and Officers, elected by Faculty members, in May 2018.[11]
