The Faculty of History - structural subdivision of the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, established in 1993.
History[edit]
The history of the faculty begins in Krzemieniec, where in June 1940 a teaching institute was established. One of its structural divisions was the Faculty of History, which educated teachers for seven-year schools. The work of the school was interrupted by World War II. After the liberation of the Tarnopol region from the hands of the Nazi invaders, in the summer of 1944, preparations for training began.
The Faculty of History functioned until 1951 and was closed. The specialization still existed at the Faculty of General Sciences, which operated until 1967.
In 1992, the "History" specialty was introduced on the basis of the Geography Department of the Pedagogical Institute in Tarnopol. On August 31, 1993, the rector of the State Pedagogical Institute in Ternopil, V. Kravets, signed the ordinance establishing the Faculty of History.
On October 18, 2020, a monument to Volodymyr Hromnicki, a Ukrainian clergyman, religious and public activist, patriot of Ukraine was unveiled at the Faculty of History[1][2].
