Appearance
Faerie Chess comes in a white box with a blue stripe around it.[citation needed] Each new piece has a card depicting it that also explains the piece's movement.[citation needed]
Gameplay
Faerie Chess plays similarly to regular chess, except players have a customizable army,[2] which can be different for both players. However, there are some rules, such as that pieces can only be used in certain "ranks."[3] An example rank is the first rank, where only the peasant and soldier may be used. The peasant behaves like a berolina pawn, and the soldier moves like a king. An example of a custom army is White replacing one of their rooks with a tower, and Black replacing their queen with a jester.
