Failures and Flatlines is the debut album from American rock band Shadows of Allowance, released independently through Routenote on August 18th, 2017, and re-issued on November 10th, 2017.
Release and promotion
In November 2015, vocalist and guitarist Connor Nelson revealed on Instagram that the band planned to release a demo EP via SoundCloud, and then begin writing for the album in the summer. On March 10th, 2016, the band released their demo "One with the Universe EP" on SoundCloud and ReverbNation. It was removed months later. In June 2016, Connor posted a picture on Instagram from Rhode Island, showing him recording a song. On July 26th, 2016, they released a demo of their song "Days turn to Anarchy" on iTunes and Spotify. On September 23rd, 2016, they released a demo of their songs "Home for the Decayed" and a demo, "The Decampment", which was not included on the album. On November 15th, 2016, they announced they were in the final stages of recording the album, along with revealing the album title and artwork. They premiered a single version of their song "Heroin Ft. Dylan Baker" on BlankTV on April 4th, 2017. On May 14th, 2017, the band announced they had finished the album, and on June 2nd, they announced the release date of August 18th, 2017. Four days before the album's release, the band's second single from the album, "The Anthem of Sympathy," was added to the DJ Titan show on Digital Revolution Radio, along with "Heroin."
