Family Court, Rayagada
Family Court, Rayagada is a judicial infrastructure for family dispute resolution established on 19 January 2019 in the district headquarters, at Rayagada. It is the only judicial institution vested with power in dealing with all the cases relating to family disputes within the Rayagada Sub-division.
History
Under Section 3 of the Family Courts' Act, 1984, enacted by the Government of India and according to the Law Department notification No. 5275L, dated 04.06.2016, of Government of Odisha, permission was granted for the establishment of this institution. After acquisition of the necessary infrastructure, it was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Justice Shri Krushna Ram Mahapatro, Justice, Hon’ble Orissa High Court, Cuttack on 19 January 2019.[1] Smt. Saubhagini Mallick is the first judge of this institution.
Jurisdiction
In spite of the fact that this is the only Family Court of Rayagada District, its jurisdiction is limited to the revenue sub-division of Rayagada only. Accordingly, all family disputes pending under the courts of Rayagada Sadar and Kashipur and all new family disputes shall come under the jurisdiction of this court.
Speciality
- The duty of this court is to settle all cases amicably, in the first instance, by counseling/conciliation.
- Appointing advocates for either party is not mandatory in family court.
- No court fee is required for filing a case in the Family Court.
