Farah Deen aka "Farah" (* 11 November 1990 in Salzburg, Austria) is a freelance dancer, dance teacher and choreographer. She is also the organiser and founding member of the international street dance festival "Flavourama".[1]
Biography[edit]
Farah Deen attended an arts high school in Salzburg, where she specialised in dance. At the age of 16 she attended classes at the Streetdance Center Salzburg, where she later founded a group with which she went to various championships.[2]
In 2006, together with Olivia Mitterhuemer, she founded the Salzburg-based Potpourri, an association for urban dance and the promotion of young talent. The founders are keen to make the dance styles of house dance and hip hop accessible to a wider audience and to bring these styles to the theatre stage. [3] In 2009 they founded the international street dance festival Flavourama, which takes place annually in the SZENE Salzburg and attracts more than 2000 people from all over the world to the heart of Salzburg.
From 2015 to 2020, Farah Deen danced in different productions of the Austrian Hungry Sharks Company [4] on stages in Europe, the USA and Sri Lanka. However, she is not only a dancer with Hungry Sharks, but also a choreographer and choreographic assistant.
A highlight of her career was her first original production, Arielle, as well as a first prize award at the Zero Project Art Competition.
She was also most recently seen in Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at the 2021 Salzburg Whitsun Festival.
The last premiere of her duo Friend.shift took place in Salzburg at the tanz_house festival.
