Faraz Arif Ansari
Faraz Arif Ansari is an Indian independent filmmaker from Mumbai, India, known for their award-winning film, Sisak (2017), India's first silent LGBTQ love story, which became the first ever Indian film to win 59 international awards. Faraz identifies as queer and non-binary, and their pronouns are they/them. Faraz started their journey as a co-writer and associate director on Fox Star's Stanley Ka Dabba and worked on many accomplished Indian films. Faraz has also directed musicals for schools and colleges across India and the United States.
Faraz directed, produced, and co-wrote Dulha Wanted, a web-series for Times Internet's platform iDiva.
Faraz is one of the segment directors on Netflix's docu-series The BIG Day.
Faraz's film, Sheer Qorma, starring Shabana Azmi, Divya Dutta, and Swara Bhasker, is the first ever Indian film to have a non-binary protagonist and is slated for its world premiere in 2021.
