Farge is an American progressive hardcore band founded in 2023 by Damian Searle in west central Pennsylvania. Drawing from the intersecting traditions of progressive rock, hardcore punk, and post-hardcore, the group crafts dense, emotionally driven music characterized by dynamic shifts in tempo, layered vocal arrangements, and introspective lyricism. The band's current lineup consists of founder Damian Searle (lead vocals, guitar, keyboard), Mason Davis (drums), Ethan Keener (lead guitar, vocals), and Giovanni Turano (bass, trumpet, trombone, vocals).
Since their formation, Farge have released a debut extended play (EP), a series of standalone singles, and are set to release their debut full-length album, Someplace I've Never Seen, in April 2026.[1]
History
Formation (2023)
Farge was founded in 2023 in west central Pennsylvania by Damian Searle, who serves as the band's primary vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist. Searle established the band with the intent of blending the emotional intensity of hardcore punk with the compositional ambition of progressive rock. Mason Davis joined as drummer, and the two formed the band's early core.
The name "Farge" reflects an intentionally understated quality consistent with the band's aesthetic sensibility — direct and spare on the surface, with layers of complexity beneath.
To Light the Fuse EP (2023)
In 2023, Farge released their debut extended play, To Light the Fuse.[2] The four-track EP — comprising "Too Far to Nowhere," "Obsession," "Dream," and "Your Life" — marked the formal introduction of the band's sound. The release demonstrated Farge's capacity for dynamic songwriting, moving through shifting time signatures, layered harmonics, and varying degrees of sonic density across its runtime. "Your Life" was also released as a standalone single the same year.[2]
Expanding catalogue (2024)
In 2024, Farge released two standalone singles: "Webs" and "So Long, Goodbye" (featuring Ethan Jacobs), continuing to build their catalogue independently between larger releases.[2]
Lineup expansion and singles (2025)
In 2025, Ethan Keener (lead guitar, vocals) and Giovanni Turano (bass, trumpet, trombone, vocals) joined the band, expanding Farge to a four-piece.[1] The expanded lineup brought additional vocal layering and a notably wide instrumental range, including brass instruments uncommon in the progressive hardcore genre.
Also in 2025, Farge gave formal standalone releases to three tracks — "Week," "Here Lies:," and "Winter" — originally circulated as demos within the local underground scene.[2] "Winter" was released on December 21, 2025, and stands as the band's most recent release ahead of their debut album.[2]
Debut album (2025–2026)
With the full four-piece lineup in place, Farge began work on their debut full-length album, Someplace I've Never Seen. A release show is scheduled for April 26, 2026 at the Indiana Theater in Indiana, Pennsylvania.[1][3]

Member profiles
Damian Searle is the founder of Farge and serves as the band's primary vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist. Searle established the band in 2023 and has been the driving creative force behind the band's songwriting direction since its inception. His role as both lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist gives Farge's arrangements a cohesive melodic and harmonic center, and his lyrical writing has been central to the band's exploration of themes including disorientation, longing, and personal reckoning.[1]
Mason Davis is Farge's drummer and has been a member since the band's early days in 2023. Davis's drumming underpins the dynamic shifts between restrained, melodic passages and more aggressive, high-energy sections that characterize the band's work.[1]
Ethan Keener joined Farge in 2025 as lead guitarist and vocalist. His addition deepened the band's guitar work and contributed additional vocal layering to their sound, strengthening the harmonic breadth of the four-piece lineup.[1]
Giovanni Turano joined Farge in 2025 as bassist and vocalist. In addition to bass, Turano plays trumpet and trombone — an instrumental range that introduces orchestral textures uncommon in progressive hardcore — and contributes vocals to the band's layered arrangements.[1]
Musical style and influences
Farge's sound is most commonly categorized as progressive hardcore — a subgenre that combines the aggression and brevity of hardcore punk with the structural complexity, polyrhythmic elements, and extended arrangements associated with progressive rock. The band's work is characterized by dynamic contrast: passages of melodic restraint give way to bursts of high-energy intensity, consistent with the post-hardcore tradition.
The band's official website describes Farge as "alternative-adjacent," reflecting a sound that sits at the intersection of several genres while resisting strict categorization.[1] The current lineup's broad instrumental range — spanning guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, trumpet, and trombone — contributes to a layered sonic palette uncommon in the genre. Multi-part vocal contributions across the lineup further distinguish the band's arrangements.
Lyrically, Farge's output explores themes of introspection, disorientation, longing, and personal reckoning, consistent with the post-hardcore tradition of using aggressive musical settings to frame emotionally vulnerable content.
