Farhod Pulatovich Karimov is an Uzbek academic and marketing scholar. He is Deputy Rector and Professor of Marketing at Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT).[1] His research has focused on digital marketing, web atmospherics, consumer behaviour, e-commerce, advertising, management and ICT in transition economies.[1]

Education

Karimov received a PhD in Applied Economics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium and an MA in Marketing from the University of Ulster in the United Kingdom.[1] He also completed a BSc (Hons) in Business Administration, majoring in marketing and minoring in finance, through the Malaysian faculty at Tashkent State Technical University.[1]


Career

From 2001 to 2006, Karimov worked as Vice-Director of Marketing at Ulugbek-Textile Joint Stock Company under the Ministry of Light Industry.[1] In 2007, he joined Westminster International University in Tashkent, where he later became Deputy Rector and Professor of Marketing.[1] WIUT lists him among its executive team as Deputy Rector for the Pre-University Department and Cambridge Education, School of Business and Economics.[2]

From 2012 to 2014, he served as Head of Department and Associate Professor at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.[1]


Research

Karimov's academic work has examined trust formation in e-commerce, social cues in online retailing, payment systems in transition economies, country-of-origin effects, and online shopping behaviour in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.[1]

With Malaika Brengman and Leo Van Hove, he co-authored a 2011 review on website design dimensions and initial trust in business-to-consumer e-commerce.[3] His work with Leo Van Hove on payment methods in transition economies was published in Electronic Commerce Research in 2016.[4]
