Farzaneh Sarvandi

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Farzaneh Sarvandi (born, Hamedan, Iran, 1972) is an Iranian painter whose work is strongly influenced by Persian Suffism.

Her paintings create a transcendental space of fantasy-based forms. She refrains from applying shadow and light, and uses bright colors. These colours, and her compositions and graphic forms, reveal a distinct spiritual spatial ensemble. She paints faces according to a general abstract pattern and identifies with the symbolist and decorative principles of traditional Iranian art, yet her work is strikingly modern in character. Sarvandi holds a Master's degree (M.A.) from the Art and Architectural University in Tehran. She is a lecturer at two arts universities in Hamedan and has been a member of the Centre of Visual Arts since 2003.

She has held a number of solo exhibitions and has been an active participant in group exhibitions in Iran and overseas. Sarvandi is a past prize winner at both the 'West Country Visual Arts Festival' (Iran) and the 'Iranian Moghavemat National Festival'. She was a resident artist at the 'Cité internationale des Arts' Paris in 2007, where she also exhibited.
