Fashion Fur Coats

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Mink was most commonly used for women’s fur coats. They have been bred to reach the best of fur color and quality. American mink are thought to be the best bred, because of techniques used to reach these standards through mink breeding processes. It became popular in the 1940’s for fur to be dyed darker hues of brown or black than the original color of the mink fur. Most fur coats have paneling with streaks of dark brown that run vertically, next to the lighter brown color. Most fur coats are made of female mink. They have a softer touch, and are usually fuller. Male mink fur is used in areas of the coat, but the majority remains female fur.[1]

To this day it is widely known that fur coats are classy, timeless, and luxurious. It’s commonly an heirloom passed down from generation to generation and carries the sense of wealth.[2] Fur coats became more popular in the 1940’s for middle class citizens. Beaver, Muskrat, and Rabbit were used in coats to be more affordable for the middle class.
