Father Joe's Villages

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Father Joe’s Villages is a nonprofit providing services and housing programs for homeless people in San Diego.[1]

They have integrated programs tailored to individual needs. Their services include housing and shelter, medical, dental and behavioral health care, employment support and vocational training, and therapeutic childcare.[1]

History[edit]

In 1950, a parish called St. Mary’s of the Wayside Chapel started providing resources to people in need in Downtown San Diego. 14 years later, the chapel became the St. Vincent de Paul Center, offering food, clothing and charity to poor and homeless people.

In 1982, Father Joe Carroll was assigned as director of the St. Vincent de Paul Center.[1]

Father Joe’s Villages has helped tens of thousands of homeless people and served millions of meals.[citation needed] As of 2020, Father Joe's Villages is the largest service provider for homeless individuals in the City of San Diego.[citation needed]
