United States of America v. Eric Adams is a pending federal criminal case against Eric Adams, the sitting mayor of New York City, regarding his alleged taking of bribes from foreign businesspeople, including Turkish officials.
Adams is the first sitting mayor of New York City to have been indicted on federal crimes and pleaded not guilty on September 27.[2][3] On September 25, a grand jury indicted Adams on five charges: bribery, the solicitation of contributions by foreign nationals, wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.[4] Initially sealed, the indictment was released on September 26.[5] The charges stem from an ongoing criminal investigation by Damian Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, into Adams' 2021 campaign.[6]
