Feminity (Persian: زنانگی) is a documentary written and directed by Mohsen Ostad Ali. It was nominated for the Best Director award for Full-length Documentary at the Kolkata International Film Festival,[1] Salerno Film Festival,[2] and the Life After Oil International Film Festival. The documentary focuses on an establishment that provides nightly shelter for women who abuse drugs, with the two women who run it also offering counseling, along with some seminars about sexual conduct, since a number of these women are sex workers, that also includes the offering of syringes and condoms.[3]
Plot[edit]
The film follows the story of five women, “Sanaz, Saedeh, Tala, Ladan and Beheshteh”, each with a unique story, but one thing in common: they all live in a women’s shelter in the south-end of Tehran, either by choice or by force. But now they all aim to change their lives for better, even if it is just for a tiny bit.[4]
