The Fender Champ 12 was developed and sold beginning in 1986. It was the beginning of a new series of amps from a Fender after the company was sold by C.B.S. in 1985. The Champ 12 was a small practice/recording guitar amp that was 12 watts and had a 12 inch speaker. It was notable for the flashy red knobs and tolex vinyl covering available such as snakeskin, white, grey, or red as well as the standard black. It had a clean and overdrive channel as well as reverb. It was a tube amp powered by a a single 6L6 power tube and two 12AX7 preamp tubes.It was sold from 1986 to 1992. They were originally manufactured in California but were later produced in Mexico.
