Ferenc Moldovanyi is an internationally recognized film director-producer who has been working as an independent filmmaker from the early nineties. He graduated from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest and holds an MFA (1992) in Film and Television Directing. He is a Doctor of Liberal Art (DLA) candidate at the Doctoral School at the same university. His films, most of which were realized in international coproduction, were shown at more than 160 festivals (Berlin, Locarno, Montreal, Karlovy Vary etc.) in 50 countries, received 40 prestigious awards and were covered by the press in many countries. Engram Films, his own production company, entered into broadcast agreements in the United States (Sundance Channel) and Europe (Canal+, RTBF, RTP etc.) to facilitate the distribution of the films.
He was invited to the jury of twelve international film and television festivals and has given several master classes around the world. He held a course at ELTE University Budapest and directed and photographed a 14x50 minute educational television series about the cinema. He has taught a Documentary Film Production Class as a Visiting Filmmaker in the United States during a semester at the Robert Morris University, PA.[2]
Strongly committed to social and human rights issues, he has successfully co-operated with international organizations. He was awarded the Human Rights Prize of the Council of Europe and received the Bouquet of Flowers of UNICEF’s Highest Appreciation in 2009 in acknowledgment of his works featuring children’s issues.[3] He is the member of several professional, national and international organizations, such as the European Film Academy. Early life and education[edit]

Ferenc Moldoványi was born in Debrecen (Hungary) in 1960. In 1982 graduated from the Teacher Training College. From 1982 to 1986 worked as an assistant director at Pannonia Film studios. Meanwhile attended the Philosophy Faculty of the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. From 1987 to 1990 studied at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. He first graduated as a Documentary (B.F.A.) then as a Film and TV director (M.F.A.).
As the French government’s grantee, he spent an academic year at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière in Paris, during which time he directed and produced a one-hour narrative film entitled Hotel Ouest based on his own script.[6] [7] [8] [9] [10]

He taught and designed a creative documentary course as a Visiting Lecturer over the period of two years at the University of Science and Humanities Eötvös Loránd, Budapest. He taught a Documentary Film Production Class as a Visiting Filmmaker in the United States during a semester at the Robert Morris University, PA.[11]
