Ferhat Bakal (born March 16, 1998), is a Turkish ice hockey left winger currently playing in the Turkish Ice Hockey Super League for Zeytinburnu Belediyespor. He is a member of the Turkey men's national ice hockey team. The 1.90 m tall player, weighing 75 kg, shoots left-handed.[1][2]
Playing career
Club
Bakal began his ice hockey career at the junior team of Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kağıt S.K. Men's Ice Hockey, playing in the 2013–14 Turkish Ice Hockey Junior League season. In 2015, he joined the Istanbul-based Zeytinburnu Belediyespor, which finished the 2015–16 Turkish Ice Hockey Super League season as champion.[2]
He participated in the 2015–16 IIHF Continental Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia. He played in the first round of the 2016–17 IIHF Continental Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria, and advanced to the second round in Jaca, Spain.[1]
International
Bakal was selected for the national U-18 team and played at the 2014 and 2016 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III matches. [3][4]
As a member of the national junior team, he participated in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 IIHF World U20 Championship Division III games. [5][6][7] In the 2016 tournament, Bakal was named Best Forward.[1]
In 2016, he was called up to the national team and played at the 2016 IIHF World Championship Division III matches.[8]
