Fernanda Murray
Fernanda Murray (born Maria Fernanda Murray Flores, April 3, 1995 – ), is an Ecuadorian artist, and designer born and based in Quito, Ecuador.
Artistic Career and Education[edit]
Murray received her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with a focus on sculpture, ceramics and art administration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago(SAIC).[1]
In 2016, Murray launched a line of jewelry and household items.[2]
In June 2017, Murray held an artistic residency through the Valparaíso Foundation in Mojácar, Spain.[3]. While completing the residency, Murray also worked at Hangar.org, an art center in Barcelona.[4]
Murray returned to Chicago and worked with Tricia Van Eck at 6018North before graduating from the SAIC in December 2018.[5]
Initially working with acrylic on canvas, Murray grew interested in painting and fiber studies. Eventually focusing completely on sculpture and ceramics, today she primarily works in her line of jewelry GLUB, Murray incorporates the use of ceramics and silver to create capsule collections, sold online and on selected boutiques. Her work explores surrealism, humor, and feminist art.[6]
