Political Career

Akingbaso joined other Ondo Labour Party supporters to become a member of PDP. He contested for the Ondo State House of Assembly in 2019 and pulled 12,524 votes to emerge winner under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party[6]

In his political career, he was at a time a board member of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission(OSOPADEC), Elected Executive Chairman of Idanre local government council[7]. Controversy

Festus Akingbaso together with lawmaker, Rasheed Elegbeleye representing Akoko North-East Constituency were locked out from the Ondo State House of Assembly by the security guards[10]. The guards confirmed that the order to lock the gate came from the Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oloyeloogun. Shortly after the saga, Festus Akingbaso opined that it was wrong for the Assembly leadership to deny them of their constitutional rights and duty and the order from the leadership of the assembly came as a result of the decision of the two legislatures to stand behind the embattled deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi who was later impeached by the assembly.[11]

Akingbaso rejected his appointment as the new Deputy Minority Leader of the Assembly as announced at the plenary of the Assembly to replace Tomide Akinrinbido of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP. in a statement signed by the lawmaker, he rejected his purported appointment as the Deputy Minority Leader[12] and dissociated himself from the purported impeachment move of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly.[13]
