Fictionkin

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck".Fictionkin or fictionkinning is a personal experience with identity that someone has in which they identify as or with a fictional character. Some fictionkins consider their identity with a fictional character nonphysical and involuntary, on an integral or personal level.[1][2]A fictionkin's "kintype" is the fictional character they identify with. The term "fictionkin" originated in LiveJournal around 2004, replacing the term "otakukin."[2][3]

Experiences[edit]

Fictionkins may experience kin memories. Kin memories are memories that someone has relating to their kintype, or can be memories from or as their kintype. Kinshifts may also be experienced, in which someone acts more like their kintype and/or thinks more like their kintype, however not every fictionkin experiences kinshifts.[4] Phantom limbs are also a somewhat common experience, where the person experiences phantom limbs from their kintype.

Controversies[edit]

Some people tend to believe that otherkin and fictionkinning are some form of a mental disorder.
