Fikret Amirov Alibaba oglu (born 17 November 1946, Baku) is an Azerbaijani scientist, mechanical engineer, Candidate of Technical Sciences (1984), professor (2006), and academician (2008). His academic activity focuses on hydraulics and hydraulic machinery.[1]
Early life and education
Fikret Amirov was born on 17 November 1946 in Baku, then part of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic.[1] In 1953, he entered School No. 89 and graduated from School No. 202 in 1964.[1]
In 1964, he enrolled in the Faculty of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering of the Azerbaijan Institute of Petroleum and Chemistry (now Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University), specializing in Chemical Production Machines and Apparatus. He defended his diploma in mechanical engineering in 1969.[1] After graduation, he was appointed chief foreman at the Sumgayit Synthetic Rubber Plant.[1]
Between 1972 and 1975, Amirov pursued postgraduate studies at the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry at the Department of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machines.[1] In 1984, he defended his кандидатская диссертация (candidate thesis) at the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences.[1]
Academic and professional career
Following the successful defense of his dissertation, Amirov worked at the Department of Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machines as a senior engineer, junior research fellow, senior research fellow, and later as an associate professor.[1]
In 2002, he was awarded the title of Doctor of Sciences by the International Eco-Energy Academy. In 2006, he received the academic title of professor, and in 2008 he was elected an academician.[1]
From 2006 to 2021, Amirov was a member of the New Azerbaijan Party.[1]
Scientific works
Fikret Amirov is the author of more than 196 scientific and educational works.[1] The total number of his scientific and educational-methodological works is 196, including 88 published works and 108 state-registered manuscripts.[1]

He supervised bachelor’s and master’s theses and served as a member of dissertation defense councils, as well as a member and secretary of master’s thesis defense councils.[1]

Personal life
Amirov’s spouse is Sevda Amirova Mammad gizi, a graduate of the Faculty of Petroleum Mechanics of the Azerbaijan National Oil Academy, specializing in machinery and equipment for oil and gas fields.[1]
His son, Elnur Fikret oghlu Amirov, is a Doctor of Philosophy in Geology and a professor.[1] His daughter, Aynura Fikret kizi Amirova, is a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine and an associate professor. She serves as the scientific secretary of the Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology.[1]
