The untitled third and final installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, tentatively referred to as Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, is an upcoming video game developed and published by Square Enix. The game is a sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, concluding the trilogy of games remaking the 1997 PlayStation game Final Fantasy VII.
Plot
Part 3 is expected to cover the events of discs 2 and 3 of Final Fantasy VII, which follow Cloud Strife and his party's continued efforts to defeat Sephiroth following his murder of ally Aerith Gainsborough. The events of disc 1 were previously covered in Remake and Rebirth.[1]
Development
Similar to Remake and Rebirth, Part 3 will be running on Unreal Engine 4. According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, about 95% percent of staff from Rebirth have been working on Part 3.[2] He revealed in January 2026 that the game's official title has been decided.[3] The Highwind airship and snowboarding minigame from the original Final Fantasy VII have been confirmed to be in development for the game, the former of which has been described by Hamaguchi as a "large part" of the game.[2][4] The locations of Wutai and Rocket Town are also confirmed to be making an appearance, with Hamaguchi noting their absence in Rebirth.[lower-alpha 1][5] Queen's Blood, a card-based minigame that became popular amongst players, is confirmed to be returning and expanded upon.[6][7]
Notes
- ↑ Both locations and their associated quests were accessible in the original Final Fantasy VII prior to the events at the Temple of the Ancients, where Rebirth concludes.
