Finding Nico is a 2010 documentary film about a filmmaker's quest to get to know his real-life godfather, the Greek-American screen actor, Nico Minardos.[1]

Nico Minardos was a former Hollywood B-movie actor who led a particularly colorful life, including involvement in the Iran-Contra Affair because of Minardos' business association with the Saudi arms merchant Adnan Khashoggi.[2] By interviewing the subject in later life, along with Nico's friends, family, former colleagues and the federal prosecutor who put Minardos in jail, the filmmaker documents his personal journey to understand -- if possible -- why Nico chose to live life the way he did, and in the process to see if his godfather, directly or indirectly, has any useful life lessons to convey.[3]

The title of the movie was inspired by the film Finding Nemo, which was directed and co-written by Andrew Stanton, a fellow Mill Valley, California, screenwriter of the filmmaker's who is credited in the documentary with special thanks.[4]
