Finding a Mouse's Husband
Finding a Mouse's Husband is a Joseon-era Korean folktale. This Korean traditional fairy tale tells the lesson that everything is relative, and everyone has good sides in them.
Story[edit]
The father mouse decides to find the best husband for his daughter. So he goes to the cat the mice are most afraid of. The mouse asks the cat to be her daughter's husband. Cats say dogs are stronger than themselves, and dogs say people are the scariest. People say that tigers are stronger, tigers say that the sun is stronger, and the sun says that clouds are stronger. The clouds say the wind could push them away. Then the mouse goes to the wind and tells him to be her daughter's husband. However, the wind says he has never beaten the wall. The mouse goes to the wall for the last time. But the wall said he is most afraid of mice that could gnaw at him on the wall. Eventually, the father mouse realizes that the best husband for his daughter is the mouse.[1]
