Firas Zahabi (born February 5, 1980 in Quebec, Canada) is the president and head trainer at Tristar Gym.[3] He is also the elder brother of UFC bantamweight Aiemann Zahabi.[4]
Training career
Firas Zahabi began training at Tristar Gym in 2000, focusing on jiu-jitsu[5] and Muay Thai. His dedication as a student led to him being offered a coaching role at the gym. Zahabi became Georges St. Pierre's main coach in 2007, following St. Pierre's loss to Matt Serra at UFC 69.[6] In 2008, Firas Zahabi purchased Tristar Gym and today he remains the head coach at the gym, training a number of professional MMA fighters.[7]
Personal life
Zahabi is the son of Lebanese immigrants. He holds a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from Concordia University. [6]
