Fircrest Golf Club
Fircrest Golf Club is a private golf course in the Pacific Northwest in Fircrest, Washington. Founded in 1923 by seven businessmen: Sydney S. Anderson, Earl C. Reynolds, Frank C. Neal, W.B. Stephens, J.A. McLeod, Russell Barlow, and Harry Mathews. Originally 165 acres owned by the Tacoma Land Company. The original 9 holes were given as a gift and the land for the second 9 holes cost $160 an acre in 1922.
Fircrest golf course was designed by Arthur Vernon "Mac" Macan, a leading golf course architect in the early 1900s. Fircrest golf course is nearly the same today as when it was designed in 1923. The course grew out of the woods, with no homes, roads or businesses in the area. The wooded and rolling terrain that Macan turned into his signature course.
