Fire from the Rock is a novel by Sharon Draper published in 2007.[1] It was honored by the New York Public Library in 2008 with it labeled in the category Best Books for Teen Age.[citation needed] The novel is about the famous historical event involving the Little Rock Nine, narrated in a third-person point of view. The book focuses on Sylvia Faye Patterson, one of the students permitted and interviewed to go to Central High School when it integrated in 1957, Little Rock, Arkansas.[2] Though Sylvia Faye Patterson is a fictional person, the historical events depicted in the novel are accurate.
